Vacation!

For vacation last week Matt and I jammed the car with way too much stuff, drove to NC, boarded up our pups at the kennel and hopped on a plane to California for a 5-day get away. It. was. amazing. Perfect weather. Lots of sight-seeing like nerdy tourists and plenty of amazing dining and even more WINE-ing.

After two days in San Fran we ventured across the bridge and into wine country for a 3-day jaunt around Sonoma and Napa Valley.

Somehow we got no pictures of this but it was Fleet Week and the Blue Angels were flying all day Saturday which was really cool! (minus the four hundred million people that attracted to the Bay area last weekend...)

Napa and Sonoma were incredible. It was a very relaxing trip filled with lots of beautiful country side, vineyards in peak season - it was the harvest time at most all of the vineyards which was fun to see, and of course a healthy amount of wine and even some bubbly tasting!

i plucked one of these puppies from the vine and tasted it and was surprised how sweet it was.

Pink champagne and a sunny patio. not much more to ask for...

After several long days of wine, cheese and amazing sights we came back to Chapel Hill for some R&R and time with family and friends. MAJ organized a birthday tailgate at my parents new place, complete with a late night game of Kings.

It was one of those perfect weekends (despite the reality that I indeed crept one year closer to the big one...364 days. Dang. )
